Looking for something fun to do in Tyler Saturday afternoon? Head south down highway 69 and turn left into Gander Mountain where you will find a host of chili cooks stirring up some of the best chili in Texas as a part of the 33rd Ever Rose City Chili Cook-Off benefiting Children's Miracle Network, honoring Caden Cole, son of Chris Cole, 1994 Texas Open Champ and member of Rose City Pod.

Cooks have the opportunity to compete in a few categories including CASI (Chili Appreciation Society International) chili, junior chili and beans. They also have the option of competing for showmanship prizes as well as the coveted People's Choice Award for chili.

The event opens to the public at 11:00 a.m., and typically draws a large crowd of chili tasters, due to the excellent CASI chili cooks that regularly participate. Cooks from the East Texas area are often competitors in the Terlingua International Chili Championship. In 2013, Tyler was represented in the Showmanship category by the Mad Hatters, led by Gil Hewlett.
