It has most definitely been a sweltering and humid week across East Texas. Tyler, Longview, Kilgore, Palestine, and Sulphur Springs, Texas residents have been finding ways to beat the heat and stay cool. It has been hard, but we're surviving what Mother Nature is dishing out.

We can't stay cooped up in the house all weekend long, we need to get some actual vitamin D, meet up with some people and have some fun this weekend. You can have some fun by meeting up with some friends at an area water park or spray ground, an escape room, shopping center, or heading out to meet them for lunch or dinner.

If you don't mind the heat there are quite a few things you can do around East Texas this weekend.

What a fun way to explore the library. Once the library closes, the Nerf Battle is on! For ages 12 - 18. Just bring your Nerf gun, preferred bullets and team up for the big showdown.

Martin Creek Lake State Park - Tatum

Texas Parks and Wildlife invite you out o Martin Creek Lake State Park for an evening to learn more about the wildlife that calls East Texas home. This is a hands on event where you can touch and feel the skulls and skin of the animals of East Texas. The event taked place at the Trammel Trace Pavilion inside Martin Creek Lake State Park.

Farmers Markets

Farmers will be selling their produce, homemade foods and crafts at 100 E. North St. in Kilgore

Brownsboro

Farm to table vendors will be selling their creations along with local vendors and food trucks at Brownsboro City Park.

Summer Celebration

Rose Rudman Trail - Tyler

The 5k, 10, and 15k will take place along Tyler's scenic Rose Rudman Trail. The start and finish line are near Southside Park. Paticipants can choose to either treat this event as a run or walk to suit their style.

Zombie Apocalypse Hike At Tyler State Park

What happens when things go wrong? Can you survive without cell phones, electricity, or transportation? Come and play this light-hearted game of survival and see if you make it through the apocalypse!

Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and be ready for a 1-mile hike through the forest.

Participants are to meet at the Whispering Pines Trailhead.
