The domestic violence shelter the pair were staying in is a safe haven for abused or recovering mothers and their children. It's apparently used by organizations throughout the state of Texas and from across the nation. According to authorities, the mother, identified as Abigail Margaret Williams, date of birth 05-06-1999, arrived at the shelter with her 15-week-old infant on Sunday and left with him at approximately 7:05 Wednesday night.
Kemp Police said the mother could come and go as she pleased from the shelter, but the infant had to remain because he was under the custody of Child Protection Services (CPS) of the State of Texas as the sole conservator and court-ordered by Smith County, Texas.
Now, Abigail Williams is wanted for interfering with child custody. She was last seen leaving the shelter around the same time an unknown vehicle's headlights pulled up to the shelter. There is no vehicle description at this time.
Xyavier Calliste, Jr is on is on prescription medication that must be taken with formula, however, the medication and formula were left behind.
Authorities are not sure if the biological father, who is from North Carolina, has ties to Smith County and the Dallas area.
If you see this woman or the child, please call 9-1-1 to report their location or the Kemp Police Department at 469-376-4598. Kemp Police, the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers are investigating this child abduction.
