A Tyler third grade class recently wrote letters to World War II veterans for their trip to Washington, D.C.  The trip is coming up this weekend and my grandfather will be traveling with a group of about 40 veterans visiting some of the most sacred memorials in our nations capital.

Among the sites he'll be visiting are the Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier along with several other sites in a quick two day trip. As part of this trip, there's 'Mail Call.' It's a time where the men and women on the trip get letters from loved ones, friends and the public.

On this trip, the veterans will be receiving at least twenty letters from my daughter's third grade class. I had asked her teacher if they had time, if they could write letters and they did! They all came home with my daughter on Friday and have been mailed off to Washington, D.C. to be distributed to these veterans on the trip.

This group of kids is very special. They are thoughtful, artisans and thankful for their service to our country.

I'd like to thank Ms. Jensen's 3rd grade class at Jack Elementary in Tyler for writing these awesome letters to these fine men and women and thank every veteran and active servicemen for their service and sacrifice to this great nation of ours.
