Texas Veterans Going On All Expenses Paid Trip Thanks To Grocery Company
A Texas Based Grocery Company Will Be Honoring Veterans With A Special Trip to The Nation's Capital.
In 2010, Brookshire Grocery Co. embarked on a mission to escort a group of World War II veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial along with several other points of interest.
“Brookshire’s World War II Heroes Flight” first took place on May 11 & 12, 2010, with 38 veterans and 19 others, mostly Brookshire’s employees, to assist them. The endeavor was fully funded and coordinated by Brookshire’s, at no cost to the veterans.
The program has been relaunched after it was paused during the COVID-19 pandemic.
BGC will be taking more than two dozen veterans to Washington D.C. this Monday for its first Heroes Flight since the pandemic. This will be the 20th Brookshire’s and Super 1 Foods Heroes Flight.
Veterans who served in World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War, War in Afghanistan and War in Iraq will visit the WWII Memorial, U.S. Capitol with Congressman Nathaniel Moran, Arlington National Cemetery, the Air and Space Museum and other memorials.
To date, more than 500 veterans have made the trip.
Company employees fly with the veterans to provide assistance and help veterans have a safe, memorable and rewarding experience.
The veterans will participate in a send-off ceremony on Monday at 7:30 a.m. at the Tyler Pounds Regional Airport. The community is invited to attend the event held just before the veterans take flight.
Just like BGC, we here at Townsquare Media thank you for your service and sacrifice and congratulations to all the veterans who are receiving this tremendous honor.
