Growing up I always heard about staying away from ticks and I was fortunate enough to never have a bad incident with the annoying little pests. While most people associate ticks with insects, they are actually arachnids which are more related to spiders, scorpions, and mites. Don’t get me wrong, you want to avoid all of these little pests, but I just wanted to give you a little education on the bugs we hate so much. But there are three types of ticks that you need to avoid in Texas, and I will give you some details on those jerks.

Why does everyone hate ticks so much? The biggest reason is that these bugs can transmit diseases to humans. Not all ticks carry diseases, but you never want to find out which ones are carrying a disease and which ones aren’t. Although it can be difficult to avoid ticks as they are found in forests, grasslands, and wooded areas. So, you need to stay alert anytime you are outdoors, especially with your pets.
