An East Texas Police Department Issued A Warning To Residents About Someone Pretending To Be A Cop.

Impersonating a police officer in Texas is a serious offense that carries significant legal consequences. Under Texas Penal Code Section 37.11, it is illegal for anyone to falsely represent themselves as a peace officer or public servant with the intent to induce another person to submit to their pretended authority or rely on their pretended acts.

Mineola police posted on Facebook that they received word of a police impersonator possibly using a Crown Victoria.

According to a post on the Mineola Police Department's Facebook page, there was a call on one of their Officers thinking it may have been the car someone posted about on Facebook that is trying to stop people.

The department went on to add in the post that they only have one Crown Victoria PPV that is still in service that's a clearly marked black and white unit with MPD striping.

Law enforcement agencies in Texas take this offense very seriously and work diligently to investigate and prosecute those who attempt to deceive the public.

Mineola PD advises residents to call 911 immediately if you have any doubt about ANY vehicle with lights trying to stop you. Also if you have any information about the vehicle posing as a police officer please call your local authority where this is taking place.
