We're quite sure you have a space in your closet or garage filled with shoes you aren't wearing any more so why are you still holding on to them? We have a great idea for you to clear out that space and help a great cause.

The Texas African American Museum in Tyler are asking East Texans to donate their gently worn, used or new shoes to them to help raise funds to help people in developing nations. The shoes are used to support "micro-enterprise vendors" which are small businesses in developing nations typically operated by one person or family.

You can drop off your shoe donation to the TAAM located at 309 W. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. on Fridays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM from now until April 30th.

For more information on how you can help out, contact Stanley Cofer at 903-372-5900 or Gloria Washington at 903-283-6089 or you can visit the Texas African American Museum website and Facebook page for more details.
