Whether you're an avid reader or just a part-time reader, you won't want to miss out on the East Texas Book Fest coming to the UT Tyler Ornelas Activities Center on Saturday, Sept. 8. The event will feature around 50 Texas authors showcasing their work, and the event is highlighted by basketball great Elvin Hayes.

Texas authors from around the state, some right here in East Texas and others from Odessa to San Antonio, are expected to be at this years event. The East Texas Book Fest runs Saturday 10a-4p with Hayes making the opening remarks around 10:30a and then at 11, Elvin will lead a round table discussion about his book and how life lessons have taught him many things, one being, how important it is to give back to the community.

Book Fest Chair Dee Brock says, "this year’s lineup of outstanding Texas authors is exceptional in quality and includes writers in a broad variety of genres for readers of all ages.”

The event features workshops on becoming an author, publishing and fine tuning your writing skills.  Authors attending this event include children's book, fiction and nonfiction for young adult readers as well as general reading.  There will be seminars on marketing, promoting, researching, illustrating and more.

The best part about the East Texas Book fest is that it is free!  Get complete details online now.
