East Texas Family Raising Money to Send Britney Spears Fan on Trip of a Lifetime

Cory Moraw probably doesn't know that many of us at Mix 93-1 know who he is. But we do.

Cory is one of East Texas' biggest fans of the music we play -- we can tell by his interaction and love for the music when we post things on our Facebook page.

But until today, we weren't aware of the challenges and adversity Cory has faced in his life. But we were inspired by a GoFundMe campaign by Cory's step-sister, Erica, to try and give Cory the "Make-A-Wish" trip of a lifetime.

Cory is a 28-year-old resident and graduate of Tatum, where it's easy to see he has affected the lives of so many people.

According to the story shared by his step-sister on the GoFundMe page, Cory was born with DiGeorge Syndrome, and also has Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, as well as cirrhosis of the liver.

Since Cory is too old to be a candidate for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Erica decided to do it on her own and ask the people of East Texas to help. Her goal: send Cory and his mother, Janet, to Las Vegas so he can see his favorite singer, Britney Spears, during her Vegas residency.

"He likes Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Luke Bryan, and tons of other artists. But most of all, Cory loves Britney Spears. If ever there was a No. 1 Britney fan, it would hands-down HAVE to be Cory," Erica writes.

Erica is looking to send the two to the show in Vegas on Aug. 19.

"It's up to ALL of us to help make Cory's dream come true. My goal is to raise enough money to fly Janet & Cory to Vegas, put them up in a hotel room, get their tickets to see BRITNEY SPEARS live show, Piece of Me, and of course, get them back home again. I'd love to get them VIP tickets/passes, that include a Meet & Greet w/Spears, but just getting them to the show period would be more than a blessing."

The amazing thing? Erica's goal she set of $11,500 has already been reached ... in ONE day. It happened as I was writing this! How great are East Texans?

Even though the goal was reached, we still want to share. Maybe Cory can get that VIP experience after all.
