‘Game of Thrones’ Signs Cast Through Season 7

‘Game of Thrones‘ has drawn plenty of additional buzz in season 5 diverging from its literary roots, but those worried about the HBO fantasy drama’s future can rest assured for at least a few years. Not only has the series officially been renewed through a sixth season in 2016, but is principle stars have now signed through season 7 as well.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, more than eight of ‘Game of Thrones’ principle stars have signed on through a (not yet greenlit) seventh season of the George R.R. Martin-adapted series, including “A” tier stars Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), along with the “B” tier of Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), and numerous others.

Most all of the options are said to include raises for the cast, pushing ‘Game of Thrones’ further along the line of history (or at least cable)’s most expensive series.

While we wait for ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5, we know of both returning, absent, and a multitude of other new characters cast, including those that confirm we’ll be visiting the oft-mentioned kingdom of Dorne, for which Spain will double. As expected, the story will draw heavily from George R.R. Martin‘s fourth and fifth novels, ‘A Feast for Crows’ and ‘A Dance with Dragons,’ while HBO has also provided a list of directors, as well as insight into which literary stories may not make the transition to film.

‘Game of Thrones’ will almost undoubtedly be renewed through a seventh season (potentially its last), but what say you? Are you glad to have the principle cast locked down another year, or would you prefer to see a bit of turnover?
