If you've been paying attention to Texas politics recently, there is an effort to change the way we vote in Texas and while that fight continues, an East Texas organization is doing what they can to help folks get registered to vote in our area and also help get the kids ready for back to school in a FUN way!

The United States Christian Leadership Organization also known as USCLO lead by Rev. Steve Miller will be hosting A Cool Groovy Day At Yates Back 2 School Community Voter Registration Drive on Sunday August 1st from 3:00 PM until its all over at Yates Park in Henderson.

This family friendly FREE event will feature FREE BBQ and lots of activities for everyone including a Kickball tournament, outdoor water games, bounce houses, food trucks, a live DJ and live performances from Shoose Mcgee and The Comn Funk Band.

Also, you're encouraged to bring school supplies to help out kids going back to school and you can also get registered to vote. There will be folks on hand to help you through the process because while there may not be a "major" election going on, its important that you participate in having a say in shaping the future of our communities. Not to mention, with these new potential "Texas voting changes" coming soon, its best to be ready instead of being caught off guard.

For more information about A Cool Groovy Day At Yates including how you be a vendor, volunteer, perform or donate contact Rev. Miller at 713-557-6520 or email him at stevemiller@usclo.com.
