I personally have a fascination with this topic and frequently watch Border Wars and to Catch a Smuggler. We always read about drug bust of contraband heading into Texas from Mexico. However Border Patrol is always searching for money heading south from the United States to prevent it from getting back to the cartels!  Homeland Security officers recently seized over $85,000 in unreported cash hidden in a vehicle that was trying to drive to Mexico from South Texas. The cash was seized on April 14th during an outbound inspection the Pharr International Bridge!

According to a  press release, “Inspection skill and experience contributed to this significant outbound currency seizure,” Port Director Carlos Rodriguez said in a statement. “These types of seizures, often involving proceeds from illicit activity, have significant impact and reflect CBP’s ongoing commitment to our priority border security mission.”

Drugs have been found in some pretty unusual places. The border between Texas and Mexico is very important for drug cartels trying to smuggle their wares into the country. Cartels are trying to sneak in any drug that you can think of. From crystal meth and heroin to marijuana and counterfeit pills, there is no shortage of illicit substances coming up from south of the border and into the United States via Mexico and Texas. The further north the drugs make it in the United States the more money the cartel makes.  Check out some of the unusual attempts that have been made.
