The word toxic is associated more with being a personality trait nowadays than having anything to do with toxic chemicals. Thanks to the legions of Internet trolls and those with a chronic case of the down-in-the-dumps, we rarely think much about the toxic things we produce, instead of the toxic people.

Which is funny, because we're all familiar with the sights and smells of some of the toxic places that we share our home with. Is Texas a toxic state? Here is where we rank.

Toxic Texas Places; Not Toxic Texas People

If you want to find toxic people, just go to the capitol (cue the rim-shot). Or hang out on social media for five minutes and make the foolish decision to read the comments.

When it comes to toxic places, we've got our share. Fortunately, it's not as much as a majority of the nation. Unfortunately, we're definitely not among the least toxic.

According to this study, we have a grand total of 1,734 toxic sites in the Lone Star State.

Where Does Texas Rank Among The Most Toxic States

When it comes to the most toxic states, it's a bit of relief to know we aren't in the top 10. We're not top 20. We're not even in the most toxic 50%.

Out of the 50 states, we rank number 32.

The states are ranked according to how much of the population lives near toxic sites, and in Texas that winds up being 18.4% of us.

Somehow, that doesn't make me feeling like dancing a little jig and screaming "We did it!"

Can You Guess These Towns From Their Satellite Photos?

I'm always down for a good brain challenge. This one however got the best of me.
It's always a fun time looking up address or cities and seeing them from a satellite point of view. You start pointing out landmarks and things you recognize.

One thing you don't account for however is something looking bigger or smaller than you seemed to think it was. So we started grabbing a bunch of these satellite pictures of cities and towns around Amarillo.

As we looked at them, we thought to ourselves, "how fun would this be to actually have to GUESS what these places are?". So away we went.

Go ahead and try to see how many you can guess correctly!
