The Texas power grid is something that all residents worry about.

When the power goes out, many things are lost. Lights are unable to be turned on, and depending on the the time of day, individuals may not be able to see for an extended period of time. Many reasons can be the cause for the power to disappear.

The reason that many of us lose power is none other than weather-related issues. The most recent example of this is Hurricane Beryl, which left many Texans without power, and resulted in loss of life. Weather related power outages worry many across Texas.

Recent data suggests that the state has more work to do in regards to making sure the power stays on during moments of extreme weather.

As reported by Climate Central, the state of Texas didn't fare well when it came to problems with power during severe weather. Using data from the years of 2000 to 2023, Climate Central was able to determine where the most power outages occurred due to severe weather. The factors included from the organization were as follows:

- Power outages (including blackouts and voltage losses)
- Fuel supply emergencies,
- Emergency appeals for reduced electricity usages where there was a reported number of customers affected or power lost
- Outages attributed to weather - or wildfire-related causes.

The data showed, over the years listed, that the state of Texas had 210 outages due to weather issues. Due to the data collection ending in 2023, Hurricane Beryl's issues did not count into the findings.
