Jacksonville Tomato Fest

Tomorrow we celebrate the tomato.  Oh, not just any tomato, the true king of all tomatoes...the Jacksonville tomato.  All hail!  Tomato Fest starts tomorrow at 9a!  See you there?  I come from a long line of East Texas tomato growers and eaters.  My cousin, Grumpy, used to have a stand on Hwy. 69.  My sweet Aunt Letha made the best Chow Chow known to man!!  My dad can make a tomato sprout out of a rock!  Me - I just know 'em and eat 'em.  My own little crop has given me just one little measly cherry tomato this year.

Dang, I was going to bring a picture in today as I was very proud of it too!  haha.  I'll be at Tomato Fest this weekend with salt in hand!  The only way to eat 'em.  Oh, by the way, don't try to fool me with your labels of "genuine" East Texas tomatoes.  I was visiting a cousin in Dallas back in early May and passed a stand touting "genuine Jacksonville tomatoes".  I took one look and called them on their bluff.  June is the ONLY time to get them at their best!!  Have a great weekend!!
