A Favorite Texas Fabric Store Is Going Out Of Business Now
For more than 80 years Joann Fabrics has been a household name for millions of Texans. Providing homemakers with the things they needed to create out of fabrics, beads, yarn, and thread. In addition to providing crafting supplies, jewelry-making supplies, sewing machines, and more.
That rich history with homemakers will soon be coming to an end for good.
Joann Fabrics And Crafts will be closing all locations, including all Texas stores
It was announced on February 12th that Joann Fabrics and Crafts had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and the company would be closing 500 of their 800 store footprint across the US.
According to published reports from USA Today, the company was sold by auction this past Saturday (February 22nd) to retail liquidator GA Group and the liquidator announced Monday afternoon that the remaining stores would be closing as well.

An additional 300+ stores will be closing - affecting stores across East Texas and Texas. Going-out-of-business sales will begin soon at all locations and most of the stores will be closing by the end of May.
USA Today also reports that GA Group will work with all affected employees in an empathetic, professional, and efficient manner to help them with job placement. More than 19,000 employees are affected by the closures nationwide.
At the company's peak, Joann Fabrics and Crafts operated 43 stores in Texas
Eighteen of the stores in Texas have been holding going-out-of-business sales since February 15th. The remaining twenty-five stores in Texas will soon be headed for the same fate.
It's sad to see such a legacy brand disappear overnight.
