Kate Hudson may be best known as an actress (and perhaps now, fitness clothing designer?), but the star certainly hasn't been shy about her other major passion: singing! And on Friday May 6, Penny Lane herself proved her vocal chops once again with a gorgeous performance of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U" while attending mom Goldie Hawn's "Love In For Kids" charity event in Beverly Hills.

Accompanied by superstar producer and musician David Foster on the piano, Hudson performed a powerful cover of the classic pop ballad in honor of the late music legend. Her voice surprisingly soulful, the crowd cheered for her unexpectedly beautiful tribute.

Watch a clip posted to her Instagram — as well as the full performance and Hawn's reaction — below:

However, Hudson's live cover of the tune — originally written by Prince and made famous by Sinead O'Connor in 1990 — isn't the first time the actress has shared her singing skills with the world.

Last summer, Hudson shared a clip of herself singing a rock-infused rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" on Instagram on July 4. Prior to that, the Mother's Day star showed off her musical talents in 2009's musical Nine, as well as on the television show Glee, performing songs like "All That Jazz."

Could an album be in her future?
