Komen Tyler Race for the Cure Has a New Location Set for Saturday, May 9

The race for the cure is on with the annual Tyler Komen Race for the Cure. Thousands of participants will be filling the streets of downtown Tyler as they run, jog, walk and crawl their way to the finish line all in an effort to raise money to help find a cure for breast cancer for women and men. The race has a new home this year, the square in downtown Tyler will be the starting and ending point for the 5k and one mile fun run.

Early registration is open now for individuals or teams online now or you may mail in your registration or register in person at the Culinary Center by Brookshire's on Rice Road,

• Wednesday, May 6th from 2 p.m. - 7 p.m.
• Thursday, May 7th 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
• Friday, May 8th 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
• race day (Saturday, May 9th) beginning at 6:30 a.m. at Main Street Gallery in downtown Tyler

There are several types of races that occur during the Tyler Race For The Cure, including a 5K and one mile walk run that are both timed and untimed, a kid dash and a special babies for the cure in stollers! If you're not the racing type or an early riser, you can still help through sleep in for a cure too!

In addition to the race, race sponsors and vendors will be on hand with demonstrations and giveaways for race participants along with snacks and water for racers. It's a morning for the entire family to raise awareness for breast cancer and an opportunity to raise money to help find a cure.

One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
