(Tyler, TX) Authorities in Texas have made a fourth arrest in a bizarre crime spree involving stolen LEGO sets.

Investigators say the suspects were part of an organized theft ring targeting LEGO kits, by stealing them for stores and reselling them for profit.  The latest suspect was caught after attempting to “build” an alibi, but police quickly “snapped” the case together.

So the play would go like this: The suspects would go into a Walmart and go down an aisle with Legos before purchasing other items, which would usually be under $1, using their credit or debit cards.

After the first crew leaves, usually a duo, a co-conspirator would go in the store, walk down the Lego aisle and pick up the same items. Then that suspect would walk past the checkout counter without trying to buy the items. If employees stopped them, they would show an altered receipt with items renamed as Legos and prices changed to be the cost of Legos.
