Four East Texans were selected recently during the NFL Draft, and as it turns out I interviewed one two years ago at the ETSN Combine.

I didn't know anything about Dylan Cantrell when I met and interviewed him at the 2016 ETSN combine held at APEC, but I quickly learned that his intention was to play professional football. Last week he was selected in the 6th round to play for the Los Angeles Chargers.

Dylan graduated from Whitehouse, and went on play wide receiver at Texas Tech. During this interview he was a red shirt Junior, and home on Summer break.

He explained to me that he had been training at APEC since he was in third or fourth grade. He said that he found APEC about a year after it opened, because he wanted to find whatever edge over his opponent that he could.

He went on to tell me how important that the ETSN combine is for our East Texas high school athletes. It offers them a chance to compete and for coaches to see their talents, as documented by sports writers.

The 2018 ETSN Combine is set for Sunday May 20 at APEC.
