Texas DPS Set Up Extra Patrols During Super Bowl Weekend
(Texas) Texas Department of Public Safety (Texas DPS) officers are increasing patrols across the Lone Star State to look for impaired drivers this weekend.

Texas DPS Super Bowl Weekend Patrol Plan
There is one event that will unite millions of people on Sunday. They'll be tuned in to watch the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots battle it out on the field for the coveted Vince Lombardi trophy in Super Bowl LX on NBC.
The Super Bowl is one of the most-watched sporting events in the world, along with the World Cup and Tour de France. Here in the United States, more than 130 million people are expected to watch 'The Big Game' on Sunday. Many of those watching will do so with friends and family at a Super Bowl watching party.
Why Extra Patrols Are Needed
Wings, chips and dip, pizza, sliders, fruit and vegetable trays, cookies, and cupcakes will satisfy the appetite of those at the party, and all that food will be accompanied by a beer or other adult beverage. The kitchen and garage refrigerators will be stocked at the beginning of the game and will most likely be depleted by the end of the game.
Texas DPS officers want you to enjoy the game. They do not want you getting behind the wheel after drinking at the party and heading home. In 2025, state troopers issued more than 1,300 citations and nearly 3,900 warnings statewide on Super Bowl Sunday. In addition, they made nearly 50 arrests for driving while intoxicated and made dozens of arrests for felonies and fugitive arrests. (Texas DPS)

What CARE Enforcement Means for Drivers
Officers will be on extra patrols on Sunday as part of a nationwide effort to combat driving under the influence. Crash Awareness and Reduction Effort, or CARE, will have Texas DPS officers looking out for impaired drivers, those speeding, swerving, failing to use seatbelts, and engaging in other dangerous behavior.
Tips for Fans: Stay Safe and Plan Ahead
Everyone wants you to have a great time and hopes that your team wins, but you should plan for a ride home. If you plan on drinking, plan on a safe ride home from a friend or a ride share service. Then, if you're the party host, you're just as responsible; don't let your attendees drive under the influence.
Have a great Super Bowl weekend, and may your team win on Sunday.
