Meals on Wheels Launches Santas for Seniors Drive
(East Texas) This is the time of the year when generosity in East Texas begins gaining steam and really shines. In less than a month, it will hit its peak, but there’s still work to be done before then. The Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays bring out something special in East Texans because they have the heart to give to those in need and to support non-profit organizations in our communities.

Why Holiday Giving Matters in East Texas
Supporting non-profits betters our communities - whether it's by volunteering, making a monetary donation, making a physical donation, or just showing support - they are very appreciative of the efforts.
Meals on Wheels Continues Its Mission
One local non-profit that is a lifeline to seniors and to those with disabilities is Meals on Wheels East Texas. This organization and its army of volunteers deliver food to seniors. They also perform welfare checks on those who are homebound and can't make a trip to the grocery store or, in some cases, prepare their own meals. While making their deliveries, volunteers notice that these seniors are in need of a few things.
Meals on Wheels East Texas recently kicked off its annual Santas for Seniors program. The goal of the program is to make Christmas merrier for neighbors in need. Oftentimes, seniors feel lonely because they do not have family close by, and some may feel isolated.
