Micah was born in July of 2012, and his entrance into this world came with more than one complication. Micah was born at only 26 weeks gestation.

That hasn't slowed him down. He earned the name 'Mighty Micah' in the NICU, and he has lived up to it. He is all boy! He loves to roughouse and play with his brother Jonah. He also loves to fish with his dad, and he loves superheroes! Micah served as the Children's Miracle Network Miracle child in 2014.

His arrival at 14 weeks early gave him an 80% chance of survival. At this time a child's lungs are not fully developed, and they are not able to breathe on their own without assistance. They don't have their fingerprints fully formed, and they are more susceptible to infection, because their immune systems are not completely developed.

After only seven weeks, Micah faced a new challenge, he was diagnosed with retinopathy of prematurity, or ROP. This disorder caused by the abnormal growth of blood vessels in the retina of the eye. Micah received the first Avastin therapy treatment at CHRISTUS Mother Frances hospital performed by Dr. Ming Lu.

He then underwent heart surgery at another Children's Miracle Network Hospital.
