Nine Things To Do This St. Patrick’s Day Weekend In East Texas

East Texas will be turning green this weekend for two reasons: St. Patrick's Day and the pollen that's falling from the budding trees! I'm not sure where the legend/tradition comes from but I've always been told to wear green on St. Patrick's Day or I'll be pinched by someone. So, I'll be wearing something green on Sunday because I don't want to get pinched.

East Texas is coming alive with all kinds of spring activities. Spring officially arrives Tuesday (March 19th) and at this point, we're a week away from the official beginning of the Dogwood Trails Celebration in Palestine and the Azalea and Spring Flower Trail in Tyler, both events get underway next weekend.

Auto & Cycle Show

Green Acres Baptist Church parking lot - Tyler

The 34th annual East Texas Auto & Cycle Show features vehicles of all makes and models, from every decade and some extremely rare finds. This is an event for car and motorcycle enthusiasts of any age.

The event is free to attend. In the event of rain, the makeup day will be March 23rd.

St. Patty's Downtown Paris Crawl

The Downtown Crawl for St. Patrick's Day in Downtown Paris is happening again! More than 15 participating downtown locations will offer adult beverages for you to enjoy while you shop in Downtown Paris. Enjoy music, vendors, local shops, beverages and more! There is an admission charge to participate and must be 21 or older.

Lego-A-Thon

Longview Public Library - Longview

Spend the day at the library playing with the huge Lego collection and see what your imagination can come up with. There will be raffle prizes (including LEGO sets) will be drawn for every hour of the event! All ages are free to attend. There will also be DUPLO blocks available for little kiddos to build with.

2024 BunnyPalooza

Yesterland Farm - Canton

Yesterland Farm is the destination for Easter fun. There will be amazing Easter egg hunts, amazing rides, and other entertainment during BunnyPalooza. There is an admission charge for this event.

Piney Woods Express Steam Excursion

Texas State Railroad Palestine Depot - Palestine

Be a part of the Steam Weekend season opener at Texas State Railroad. Take a ride aboard the majestic steam locomotives and get up close and explore them. This will be a four-hour round-trip excursion from the Palestine Depot to the Rusk Depot with an hour-and-a-half layover for lunch in Rusk. There is an admission charge for this event.

2024 Motorized Barstool Races

This is a unique event. The barstool races begin at 3p. There will be live music until midnight.

Scott Moser Memeorial Skate Contest

Saturday 4p-7p
N 10th St. - Longview

The contest will be in two formats, Street and Mini Ramp. It will have participants from all levels. Registration for the participants is $20 and that money will go to cash prizes. There will also be skate-related prizes donated by various sponsors. Divisions will be made at registration depending on turnout. Spectators are free!

Downtown Longview St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl

Come get your green on in Downtown Longview St. Patrick's Day weekend. Join your friends in Downtown Longview for a self-guided pub crawl on Fri. & Sat. March 15 & 16 from 5-8 pm.
