Big Convenience Store Company Coming to Texas and New Mexico
It seems like there is always a conversation about convenience stores in Texas. While a majority of those conversations revolve around the iconic Buc-ee's locations. There are lots of other companies that are trying to take a bite out of the popular gas station and convenience store locations.
Recently we have heard about the popular Midwest convenience story Casey’s General Stores which bought out CEFCO. And we also heard about Allsup’s plan to expand their brand in Texas and add more locations. But now we are finding out that there is another large convenience store company that is planning on coming to the Lone Star State.
Locations Opening in Texas and New Mexico
If you’ve vacationed in Mexico before it’s very likely that you’ve seen or visited one of these convenience stores before. I know that I have, and it was very similar to just about any other convenience store, I am talking about OXXO convenience stores.
According to KXAN, OXXO stores are run by the convenience store giant FEMSA and they reached a deal to purchase 249 corner food marts in Texas and New Mexico. The cost of the transaction was $385 million dollars. The stores were purchase from a company well known in Texas, Delek U.S. Holdings. The majority of Delek stores are in Texas.
When Will the Stores Switch Names?
There is no word on when we will start seeing OXXO stores start taking over the former Delek locations in Texas, but we know it’s on the way.
There is starting to be quite a fight when it comes to convenience stores in Texas.
