In Texas, state law requires that all vehicles on the road must be registered and properly display two state-issued license plates on the front and rear of the vehicle, with the exception of motorcycles, antique vehicles, and a few others. Those state-issued license plates are honestly pretty boring.

Generic Texas license plates are pretty boring - just a white background with black letters and numbers. I get it, it makes it easier for Texans and law enforcement to read, but they could be a bit more appealing like they were in the 90s and early 2000s. I liked the ones that featured the cowboy, space shuttle, oil derrick, and the shape of Texas. Those plates had state pride and some personality too.

The Texas DMV gives Texans the opportunity to show off their personality through personalized license plates. Whether the plates have a cool design or customization from the letters and numbers you request, you can show off your personality to other Texas drivers as you drive down the road. Now you'll have to apply for the plates, go through an approval process, and pay a little more for them and if approved you'll be set.
