(KNUE-FM) While there is a lot to enjoy and love about Texas, we also know that just like everywhere else there is serious crime that takes place in the Lone Star State. We have amazing law enforcement officers working all hours of the day and night, but there will still be some people that don’t want to obey the laws.
When discussing violent crime, it's crucial to understand which situations to avoid whenever possible. That's why I wanted to explore which Texas cities pose the highest risk of people becoming murder victims.
Why Smaller Texas Towns Rank Higher for Murder
It would be easy to think that all the biggest cities in Texas are the ones you really need to watch out for when it comes to being a victim of a violent crime or even being murdered. But, there are places that you really need to be more cautious, and they’re probably places you didn’t worry too much about in the past.

How to Stay Aware and Protect Yourself
Whether you’re at home in the Lone Star State or visiting other places, you need to stay aware of your surroundings to lessen your chance of becoming another victim of a violent crime. Trust your gut, if you don’t feel safe, get out of that situation or area as quickly as possible.

What the Data Really Says About Texas Safety
Don’t think for one second that you and your family aren’t safe in Texas. I just wanted to bring you this information as I didn’t expect that some of the smaller towns would have higher violent crime rates.
It’s a good reminder for all of us to make sure we don’t put ourselves in harm's way.
