Sneak Peek Inside Layne’s Chicken Fingers, Opening Soon in Nacogdoches
Layne's Chicken Fingers will be opening on Tuesday, August 12, in Nacogdoches. They are located at 1505 North Street. You may recall that as the old Long John Silver's site.
Behind The Scenes At Layne's Chicken Fingers
The crew at Layne's has been busy training as they get ready for their opening day. They invited me out to get a first look at what East Texans can expect.
This not only included sampling their delicious chicken fingers and other menu offerings, but also provided an opportunity to explore some of their Lumberjack decor and gain a better understanding of Layne's Chicken Fingers' history.

Layne's History - The Originators, Not The Imitators
In 1994, Layne's opened up their first chicken fingers restaurant in College Station, in the heart of Aggieland. You may be familiar with the names of other eateries that serve primarily chicken fingers, but Layne's was the first.
Layne's has now expanded its footprint through much of Texas, as well as into far-off lands such as Utah, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Georgia, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
The franchisee bringing the store to Nacogdoches hopes to open up at least a couple dozen more across parts of Texas.
Layne's Chicken Fingers...And More
The friendly folks at Layne's loaded me up with many delicious selections from their menu when I stopped by to visit.
Chicken Fingers
They offer two choices - original and spicy. I had one of each. The chicken was juicy, tender, and delicious. The batter was light and crispy.
It was hard for me to decide which was my favorite, so I'll probably mix and match original and spicy when I order at Layne's (which you are allowed to do)
Dipping Sauces
The great news is that instead of just one dipping sauce (like the other guys), Layne's offers 6.
The Layne's secret recipe signature dipping sauce is heavenly. But they also offer Honey Mustard, BBQ, Jalapeno Ranch, Buttermilk Ranch, and Gravy. I tried them all, except gravy.
They were all delicious, which leads to the not-so-great news of the difficulty of deciding which to choose.
Sandwiches
Layne's offers several varieties of sandwiches.
I tried the Chicken Club Sandwich, which includes chicken fingers, Layne's sauce, cheese, and brisket bacon.
Even something as simple as a grilled cheese sandwich is turned into a mouth-watering meal at Layne's.
All The Extras
Tea, lemonade, cookies, wraps...there were so many items that I didn't have the chance to try.
They offered me one of their signature shakes (strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, salted caramel, and Oreo), but I was just too full.
The Experience
I asked the management how they expected to outperform their competition in Nacogdoches.
Of course, they boasted that their food and selections were better. But, they said, none of that matters unless the service is top-notch. They strive for their customer experience to be at least 15 times better than their delicious food.
I can definitely vouch for their service AND their food.
Remember, Layne's Chicken Fingers will be open beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, in Nacogdoches.
