Space Force Launches First Recruiting Commercial
Remember the first time we all heard the words "Space Force"? Some folks thought it was a joke, obviously "Saturday Night Live" did too. Netflix even has a new show called "Space Force" starring Steve Carrell and John Malkovich. The show follows a group of people tasked with establishing the U.S. Space Force. Check out the trailer below.
Space Force was signed into law on December 20th, 2019. It was signed in as part of the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act. The website SpaceForce.mil went live right after and that's when we all realized "This Space Force thing is actually legit!". For many of us, the U.S. Space Force is the first new military service introduced in our lifetime. The last time a new military service was introduced was in 1947 when the U.S. Air Force was established, which was over 70 years ago.
We have no idea if you get a lightsaber or a fancy portal, we will wait to see what the new recruits report back. What we do know is that the U.S. Space Force has now launched its first recruiting commercial, and it's epic.
It starts off with a young man staring into space. The hope is to recruit several airmen. Several airmen are now able to transfer to the USSF. The window opened up on May 1st. A Space Force official told Military.com that several hundred applications have already been submitted.
