Texas Flashback: Dr Pepper’s Best Lost Retro Flavors
When you think of the great food & drinks from Texas, you usually think of Whataburger, Blue Bell Ice Cream, and Dr Pepper. For good reason: Dr Pepper was invented in Waco, Texas back in the 1880s by Charles Alderton & it's continued to be drunk and loved by people everywhere.
The love for Dr Pepper is felt even more thanks to the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco, Texas (and let's not forget the endless amount of Dr. Pepper flavored items you can find).
However, there are many different varieties of the Texas classic that we've seen during its time that are no longer around. We can now remember these past flavors through memories alone (or when Dr Pepper brings certain flavors back for a limited time).
Here are a couple that you might remember & perhaps never knew about.

There's a line of Dr Pepper flavors that are technically not around anymore, yet you can still buy them but under a different name:
- The "Pepper Free" line ran from 1982 to 1985 before it was rebranded as "Caffeine Free".
Another notable flavor worth mentioning is Dark Berry, which DOES come back around every so often, it came out during Spider-Man: Far From Home & Jurassic World Domination.
Another one worth mentioning is the curious Dr Pepper Mojoe; a blend of caramel coffee & Dr Pepper.
It was originally pitched in 2006 but it was never made. Interestingly this seems like it could've been a precursor to the Coke-Cola With Coffee drinks that we DID see when it was made available in 2021 before that was discontinued in 2022.
If you want to learn more about Dr Pepper's history, A Brief History did a good job of compiling the history of the soda on YouTube.
