
Texas Loves Minecraft: Happy Meal Promotion Drives Traffic
In Dallas, well ahead of the Minecraft Movie in October of 2024, they had the Minecraft Experience: Villager Rescue. Texans turned a defunct baby Best Buy in Dallas into a money maker because of that temporary Minecraft installation.
It was only fitting that the new movie and the associated hype would flush another Texas retailer with cash.
McDonald's first location in Texas was opened in 1962 in Austin. Now, you would be hard pressed to find a town here without the golden arches.
Texans can't get enough Minecraft, and their love for the blocky game has now propped up sales for many McDonald's locations.

There have always been amazing toys in McDonald's Happy Meals. The Ty teenie beanie baby craze of the 90s, the Pokémon toys, and the Neopets have all led to this moment.

According to Placer.ai, visits to McDonald's have gone up 12.2% following the launch of the promotion. Visits on April 8th and 15th were up 9.5% and 7.4% over last year.

I had heard that trips to McDonald's were down, and this news couldn't come at a better time. Visits were down 2.6 percent in the first quarter because low-income customers are dining out less.
It's amazing to think that something like a movie tie-in could have so much to do with the success of a burger franchise in Texas. If you love Minecraft, I hope you got all of the 12 film-inspired figurines and enjoyed many adult Happy Meals.
