Texas Radio Personality Murdered in Station Parking Lot
This scares me. It hits really close to home, because over the years I have come and gone to the station at all hours of the day and night.
Morning Radio Personality, Sherry Ruth Francis, was found murdered in the station parking lot on May 25. The investigation is ongoing, so a motive has not yet been released, but a suspect has been apprehended and confessed to the slaying.
"She may have seen this subject standing here when she got out of her car, hollered at him to leave and he attacked her," Kerr County Sheriff W.R. "Rusty" Hierholzer told KSAT-TV.
Hierholzer could not reveal more to reporters as the investigation continues, but Sherry's coworkers say that she was a lot of fun, and just started working at the station about a month earlier.
A fund has been set up to help her family with expenses. The following message can be found on sister station, 92.3 The Ranch's website:
Early on the morning of May 25th, we lost one of our own to a senseless, brutal attack. The Hill Country knew her as Sherry Lane. She brightened your mornings on Country's Hot Mix 96 The Fox. Her children will be taking her home, one last time. We cannot lessen their grief, but we can help their financial burden. Please stop by Guadalupe National Bank at 1309 Bandera Hwy, 1916 Junction Hwy Kerrville, or 1027 Hwy in Fredericksburg to make your donation. Please make checks payable to The Sherry Francis Family Fund. Thank you for helping Sherry's Children.
