I love it when a town is dedicated to maintaining a historic district.

For most of my life, it seemed that everything was moving away from downtown areas and toward more suburban locales. Shops and cafes were steadily relocating or shutting down entirely and downtown areas were wasting away.

And then about 15-20 years ago I noticed a push to restore and renovate many of the downtown areas here in North Texas.

As someone who could remember when my hometown’s downtown area was hopping when I was a small child in the 70s, I loved the idea of reviving it. Not only because I have so many fond memories of “going to town” as a little boy, but I also appreciate the aesthetic of classic architecture.

So, I was curious to see which Texas main street was named the most charming in a study conducted by Mixbook. That way I could add another town to my road trip bucket list if I hadn’t been there before.

And it turns out I was oblivious to the charm of Main Street in Grapevine, the only Texas main street to make it into the top 100 in the country.

After taking a look at everything the district has to offer, I’ll definitely be making a trip to Grapevine sometime here in the not-too-distant future. According to Grapevine’s official website, Main Street is a great place to spend the day or an entire weekend.
