Third Man Arrested In Alleged Cartel Ordered Kidnapping In Texas
A Shocking Update To A Story Involving A Tyler Kidnapped Allegedly Under Mexican Cartel Orders.
Two men, one from Colorado and one from New Mexico, were indicted earlier this year after being charged with aggravated kidnapping for ransom/reward and now another man has been arrested in connection with the two suspects.
The Victim Was Taken From His Home in Tyler In March.
According to KLTV, the arrest affidavit states that the men drove in a rented car to the victim's home where they put a gun to his head and forced him into their car. After driving away, the suspects then began calling the man’s wife and demanded $10,000 with instructions not to call the police or they would kill her husband.
The affidavit added that the man’s sons followed the suspects in their own vehicle, but were threatened at gunpoint a short time later not to follow any further.
47 Year Old Julio Cesar Cordova of Albuquerque, NM
The two men identified as Julio Cordova and Walybert Cordova-Rascon kept demanding $10,000 from the man’s wife, but after her repeated pleas that she didn't have the money, they reduced the demand to $5,000 and, eventually to “whatever she could collect.” Law enforcement was able to track the kidnapped man’s cellphone and saw that the suspects’ vehicle had stopped in Fort Worth.
Fort Worth Police eventually detained the suspects after finding the victim in the backseat of the vehicle and recovered two guns.
38 Year Old Walybert Eron Cordova-Rascon of Straburg, CO.
Rascon and Cordova are cousins who told police that “a black male” told them to go find the victim because the victim owes him money.
During their investigation, police found text messages between the kidnappers, the victim and a contact by the name of "Glesias".
Police Allege "Glesias" Is 38-Year-Old Brandon Jeffrey Of Tyler.
Police report that Jeffrey used a burner phone to text the kidnapping victim. The number was also connected with numerous other persons of interest and targets in narcotics conspiracy cases across the U.S.
Officials also allege that Jeffrey is the subject who met with Cordova and Cordova-Rascon to facilitate the kidnapping of the victim under orders from a Mexican drug cartel over an $80,000 debt the victim allegedly owed. He has been charged with facilitating an aggravated kidnapping, with bond set at $750,000.
