Tyler Junior College isn't only known for its academics, but their theater program as well. It is always one of the highlights of the school year when they open their plays to the public. Their first production of the year opens this weekend with a story about our favorite fairy tales, with a twist.

The play by Don Nigro is a stripped down version of the classic Grimm Brothers story. Rosey Snow is stuck in a frightening fantasy world. She becomes harassed by her crazy stepmother, chased by a love struck prince and guided by a fairy godmother who likes to sing. It's the same fairy tale we all know and love, but puts a focus on certain elements of the story and finds out what makes each of these characters tick.

“Cinderella Waltz” will run Oct. 4-6 and 11-13 at 7:30 p.m. for Thursday and Friday performances and at 2 p.m. for Saturday performances. All seats are $5. The show is not recommended for young children.
