Tyler has a rich and storied history with the rose dating back to 1920. Tyler quickly became known for its roses around 1940 when more than half of the rose bushes in the US were grown within a 10-mile radius of the city.
Today, Tyler is home to a 14-acre rose garden, which is the largest in the US. You can walk through this public garden just about any day of the year to see and smell roses in bloom. The garden is made up of 38,000 rose bushes from more than 500 different varieties.

Tyler though is more than roses. It is home to world-renowned healthcare facilities, and three exceptional higher education institutions, and offers its residents and visitors a wide variety of activities, from family activities, to dining out, to cultural experiences or history, along with much more.
