The UT Tyler Patriot Suddenlink Million Dollar Hole in One kicked off on Saturday raising more than $3,000 in scholarship money, and qualifying seven finalists.

Saturday at 10 a.m. on golfers began swinging for their chance to hit for $1,000,000 on May 18th at Hollytree Country Club. Mike Cearley of Troup was the first to qualify with a distance of 13 inches from the pin.

Cearley and his family have been tremendous supporters of the event over it's history. He has qualified for the finals nearly every year beginning in 1988. His son Mike and son-in-law Jeff also qualified on Saturday with a distance of 8 1/2 and 15 inches respectively.

In addition to Cearley family, Mason Terry of Lindale, Michael Gilbert of Big Sandy, Walter Treat of Tyler and Brett Swift of Bullard all qualified to compete in the finals.
