WATCH: Police Searching For Nearly 200 Looters Accused Of Trashing Walmart Store
We've all seen protests across the country (and the world, honestly) following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. We've all seen crazy video of looters destroying property, burning buildings, hurting people, you name it. For me, I understand that these people are NOT protesters. These are looters. This is a crime. For every looting video, there are dozens of peaceful protests happening in communities across the country. I see you. I acknowledge you. In this piece, we're talking about LOOTERS and this crazy video comes to you from Florida.
Investigators are trying to find nearly 200 people accused of breaking in to a Walmart store in Hillsborough County, Florida and stealing more than $100,000 in merchandise. The store was closed at the time due to protests in the area.
Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says that people used hammers and other objects to burst their way into the store, then running through the aisles. Many people you can see in the video wore masks obscuring their faces.
I've watched this video a few times now and it's utter chaos. The electronics department looks to have taken the biggest hit. People are seen grabbing televisions and small items off the store shelves.
"Not only is this violence completely unacceptable, it was disrespectful to the protesters who were out there that night trying to express their message in an impactful way," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "
It's not clear how many people, if any of them, seen in the video have been caught.
