The reliably wacky Wendy Williams took a more somber turn today (May 30), when the show's titular host paid tribute to a fan who was killed in the May 22 bombings at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England.

Martyn Hett, a 29-year-old pop culture fanatic and PR professional, was a follower of Williams' show, the media giant told her audience, and noted that he was supposed to be an audience member in yesterday's and today's tapings. So, in honor of his memory, Williams left his intended seat open, and tearily offered her condolences to those close to him.

"He was supposed to be in our Wendy audience yesterday and today," she said. "He saved for two years to have a fabulous time in New York and come to our show. He called it a trip of a lifetime on his social media."

Williams added that she would have loved the chance to meet Hett, whom she said she'd have likely embraced as one of her own.

"He's remembered as a man who loved life like all my people, with passion, courage and laughter," she added. "Martin, in honor of you, we're keeping that chair open, and our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family."

Mariah Carey, another one of Hett's queens, also paid her respects, noting in an Instagram image: "Devastated to learn that one of the victims in Manchester was part of the #Lambily. RIP Martyn Hett. We will cherish your memory forever. His family and all the families affected are in my thoughts and prayers. MC."
