Sadly it's not an uncommon sight to see rowdy concert goers rush the stage during a musical performance & it HAS happened in Texas. It's even happened as recently as November 2024. But even before then, there have other incidents involving famous musicians being attacked while on stage in the Lone Star State.

The Sex Pistols had a violent run-in during a show in San Antonio

On January 8, 1978, the Sex Pistols would visit Randy's Rodeo in San Antonio. Most of the concert goers would remember, not just the music being played, but the beer being sprayed onto the band.

People said that beer cans, hamburger wrappers (and even a full pie) was thrown at the band during the show. And to top it all off, Sid Vicious even swung his bass guitar at a fan.

The band was able to continue with the rest of the set, which went off without a hitch. Today Randy's Rodeo is open as a ballroom/bingo hall but this is still one of the craziest stories ever told at the San Antonio venue.

Kurt Cobain was attacked by a security guard in Dallas

Yes the concert that we're talking about is NOT like their MTV Unplugged performance at all...

On October 19, 1991 at the Trees Dallas club, Nirvana's singer Kurt Cobain would be attacked by a security guard during "Love Buzz". After Kurt stage dived into the crowd, he accidentally hits a bouncer, who decides to get revenge on the singer...

Thankfully the band was able to finish the rest of their set that night, making this one of the craziest stories in Nirvana's history. And thankfully

Billie Eilish had her rings stolen while at Austin City Limits in 2019

Billie EIlish has performed at Austin City Limits a number of times but it was her performance in 2019 that made it onto this list. While performing "Ocean Eyes", Billie would jump in to interact with the fans & while she was down there, she had her ring stolen. She also reported that fans were a little rough on her; people were pulling her hair, grabbing her arms and even choking her at one point.

Thankfully her future performances didn't see any of these incidents happen again.

Morrisey had a huge number of fans rush the stage during a performance in Dallas

Yes we've come to the year 2024 & this story, while not as violent as the others, it still talks about the amount of fans rushing the stage WHILE Morrisey was singing so it counts.

On November 2, 2024, at Dallas' Music Hall at Fair Park, Morrisey came back for an encore & would perform "First of the Gang to Die". The song would be cut short after the Smiths frontman would be ganged up by 3 fans at once, forcing security to get him off stage.

Jada Arnell Thomas was even shot at a Dallas hotel

We stay in Dallas for our final story & it's perhaps the most frightening one. On November 3, 2024, a local Dallas singer, Jada Arnell Thomas, was signing autographs at the Black Academy of Arts and Letters when she was shot by 26 year old, Micah Williams. Thankfully Jada survived and was taken to the hospital while Micah was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Let's hope to not see any more of these stories in the future.
