The days are no longer getting longer in Texas. Due to the heat, they may seem longer, but the amount of daylight we experience is getting shorter by the day. And before you know it, we will be seeing a lot less of the sun in the evening.

When Does Daylight Saving Time End?

Daylight Saving Time still has a few months left for those who aren't ready to "fall back". In fact, Daylight Saving Time won't end until Sunday, November 3 at 2am. But that doesn't mean we aren't losing daylight already. As August turns into September, if you are paying attention at the end of the day, you will notice that it is getting darker a little earlier.

Will Texans Have To Change Their Clocks... Again?

You bet we will. In 2023 the Texas House voted to stay on Daylight Saving Time, but the federal government won't allow states to stay on Daylight Saving Time. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida has attempted to pass legislation that would allow states to stay on Daylight but the legislation has not passed.

So yes, on November 3rd, you will have to change your clocks and turn them back one hour in Texas.

Time Change History

While farmers are often blamed for the reason we have a time change, they actually are not the reason. It's always been about saving energy. In 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005 which extended Daylight Saving Time by 4 weeks. That's why it seems as though Daylight Saving Time lasts so long.
