Texas has seen the rise and fall of many cities and towns throughout its long storied history. Thanks to the railroads expanding west, mining opportunities, and the oil boom of the early 1900s, bustling towns and cities and towns popped up among the Texas landscape and along the rail lines and the oil rigs where life was sustained for quite a while by these industries. However, over time many of these towns' populations dwindled down to nothing and all that remains are a few old buildings or the remnants of them.

These former Texas boom towns are just a distant memory for most of us but they live on in the historical archives of the county they lived one thrived in. Abandoned and alone, these ghost towns are now being reclaimed by Mother Nature. You can visit them, but there's not much left to see or do, they're just a shell of what used to be.

These Texas towns once boasted a healthy population with a thriving economy, but along the way, something drastic happened within the town causing its population decline and slow death and eventually becoming a Texas ghost town.'

If you do go on an adventure and seek out these ghost towns, please do it safely. If you go on a journey into the woods please have the landowner's permission to do so or you could be prosecuted for trespassing. Above all, be careful, courteous, and inquisitive.
