Now that one of CBS’ most visible 2016 decisions is out of the way, the eye network sets its gaze on the new crop of pickups, and what they might replace. Officially ordered to series now are a Training Day sequel with Bill Paxton as the lead, and a thrice-baked MacGyver reboot, among others.

Set in modern L.A. 15 years after the events of the Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow film, CBS’ new Training Day will follow “an idealistic young African-American police officer appointed to an elite squad of the LAPD where he is partnered with a seasoned, morally ambiguous Caucasian detective.” In addition to Bill Paxton and Justin Cornwell in the lead roles, Training Day stars Drew Van Acker, Katrina Law, Lex Scott Davis and Julie Benz.

Meanwhile, the oft-reworked young MacGyver series will still star X-Men alum Lucas Till in the title role, as well as George Eads, but lose the remainder of its cast (and potentially a showrunner) to undergo a third round of redevelopment. Also ordered are Silicon Valley medical drama Pure Genius, Dr. Phil adaptation Bull, along with Matt LeBlanc comedy Man With a Plan, and Joel McHale’s The Great Indoors.

Trailers will likely follow, but which of CBS’ new offerings holds the most weight?
