After what felt like an incredibly long winter, it sure is nice to feel the spring breezes again. Truly, East Texas is a wonderful place to be this time of year. The weather, when it isn't stormy, is practically perfect. The flowers are in bloom and generally people just seem happier. On top of that, in the past several years we've seen more and more activities coming to our East Texas historic downtown areas, especially during this blossoming season. One of my favorites? The Rose City Farmers' Market. Yay!

In just less than a month, The Rose City Farmers' Market will be back with its locally and sustainably-grown produce, grass fed meats and yard eggs, from-scratch pies and pastries, local honey, jams and jellies, and so much more. Opening weekend is April 20 and from then on throughout the season, the RCFM will be in downtown Tyler at 302 S. Broadway each Saturday from 8 a.m. until Noon.

In addition to the delightful food offerings, you can find locally roasted coffee, soaps and body lotions, and fresh cut flowers. Bring the family and peruse to your heart's content while enjoying the live music provided by local East Texas artists. I'm not sure I could ponder a more perfect way to spend a Saturday morning.

While the opening weekend is still a few weeks away, they are currently looking for volunteers to help with this much loved endeavor. If you'd like to give your time and/or expertise, be sure to reach out to them via their Facebook page.

See you at the market!
