The Mega Millions jackpot is currently at an estimated $740 million. No matter how you slice it, it's a life-changing sum of cash; even after taxes. Living in Texas, we don't often hear about big jackpot winners. It seems the Lone Star State isn't the luckiest. Texas is long overdue for a big jackpot win. Here's a breakdown of how overdue Texas is for a big win, and which numbers are also overdue for a jackpot.

Texas, It's Your Turn For A Big Lotto Win

According to the big brains over at Lucky.me, Texas ranks as the state that is the 16th most overdue for a big lotto jackpot. They looked at lottery data dating back to 1997 to come up with their findings. According to them, Texas has had 7 Mega Millions winners since 2010 and only 2 Powerball winners since 2003. I'd say we're due a jackpot or two.

We have had plenty of headlines recently about people winning smaller prizes, but the jackpots seem too elusive for the Lone Star State. It's a shame I know how much we all love to sit around daydreaming about what we would do with that jackpot that apparently isn't ever going to show up because we live in Texas.

Which Numbers Are Overdue For A Big Lottery Jackpot

Lucky.me also broke down which numbers are the ones that are the most overdue for a lottery win. I guess if you're the "every dog has its day" type, these numbers are really going to interest you. According to Lucky.me the numbers break down as follows:

  • Powerball numbers overdue for a jackpot - 60, 65, 66, 67, 68
  • Mega Millions numbers overdue for a jackpot - 49, 51, 65, 23, 36

When it comes to the numbers that have the best track record for winning jackpots, Lucky.me broke that down as well. Here are the numbers Americans have won big on most often:

  • Powerball numbers with the most wins - 10, 11, 17, 9, 13
  • Mega Millions numbers with the most wins - 9, 39, 4, 18, 46

Of course, there's no predicting which numbers will net you a massive jackpot. If you play, never play with more than you can afford to lose. After all, the odds are most definitely not in your favor when it comes to the lotto.
