Hopefully, the Shreveport area will see a renewed filming industry in our near future. A lot of things are falling into place to rekindle Shreveport's history as "Hollywood of the South". Before the State of Louisiana limited the savings the film industry enjoyed here, Shreveport was a magnet for big-budget films. Even today, with credits capped, you can still find some filming locally.

With Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson looking to move his productions to the city of Shreveport, there's hope that we could see a return to the legendary days of the mid 2000s and early 2010s.

Over that period of time, Shreveport hosted filming for major blockbuster productions like The Mist, Olympus Has Fallen, Drive Angry, Mr. Brooks, Battle Los Angeles, The Guardian, and many others. But filming in the Shreveport area actually goes back well before that peak period.

According to some historical documentation, there was filming done in Shreveport back in the early 1900s through the 1990s. Some decades saw numerous filming projects, and some even included award winning productions.

With these productions came major stars. The city of Shreveport has hosted a large group of "A List" actors and actresses for filming projects. Names like Denzel Washington, Susan Sarandon, Kevin Costner, Charlize Theron, Morgan Freeman, Gerard Butler, Demi Moore, Jack Black, Nicolas Cage, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Sandra Bullock, and more. That "and more" includes comedy legend Adam Sandler.

In fact, Adam Sandler filmed one of his most notorious movies in Shreveport. But it turns out, its not the "Sandman" production you might suspect.

Many people still believe that his 1998 film The Waterboy was shot and filmed in Louisiana. That assumption, paired with Shreveport's filming history, leads some to suspect The Waterboy was shot in Shreveport. But it wasn't.

In fact, The Waterboy wasn't filmed in Louisiana at all. While IMDB counts some of the "B roll" background footage as being shot in Louisiana, the vast majority of the movie was filmed in Florida.

So if not The Waterboy, which Sandler movie was shot in Shreveport?

Turns out, that distinction belongs to the 2006 movie Click.

This Sandler classic was directed by Frank Coraci, the same guy who directed The Waterboy (as well as Here Comes the Boom, The Wedding Singer, and Blended) and also featured Kate Beckinsale, Christopher Walken, David Hasselhoff, and Henry Winkler.

It might not be the movie from Sandler's resume you'd expect to come out of Shreveport, but it's the one we got.
