Jacksonville Celebrates With Tomato Fest
The fruit that is substituted as a vegetable will be the center of attention in Jacksonville on June 9th during Tomato Fest!
The annual celebration will take place along downtown Jacksonville's Commerce Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival that celebrates the tomato will feature over 200 vendors on site, a car show, farmer's market and all kinds of contests! The tomato is the star during all these contests:
- best home grown contest
- peeling contest
- packing contest
- eating contest
- shooting contest
- salsa contest
There is so much to do at Tomato Fest!
Jacksonville's Tomato Fest set the Guinness World Record for the world's largest bowl of salsa back in 2010, coming in at 2672 pounds!
The night of Tomato Fest you can dance the night away in an old-fashioned street dance beginning at 7 p.m. at Chili's on S. Jackson Street.
Before the 34th annual Tomato Fest kicks off Saturday morning there following events will take place:
- Saturday, June 2nd @ 9 a.m. - Tomato 5k
- Monday, June 4th - Wednesday, June 6th - dodge ball tournament
- Wednesday, June 6th @ 6:30 p.m. - gospel concert
