The John Tyler 7-on-7 football team was able to beat Crosby in the semifinals at a state qualifying event Saturday in Lufkin, and that means the JT team moves on to the state tournament next month. Ever seen a 7-on-7 game? It's wild!

It's lightning fast, and can be really high-scoring. A quarterback can only hang on to the ball for four seconds until he gets a penalty, so it's a lot of quick passes that lead to a lot of touchdowns.

The host team, Lufkin, won the other berth into the state tournament with a semifinal win. Both teams move on to the state tournament in College Station in July.

Lufkin will be in Tyler to play in the Tyler Lee tournament in the coming days, but since the teams have already wrapped up the state tournament berth it doesn't much matter who wins. You know they want to keep rackin' up the TDs, though. Nice job guys!
