Even with Memorial Day behind us, East Texas is a haven for weekend events and trips during the summer. Don't believe me? Below you'll find some of our favorite events and activities for you and your family this weekend (June 2-4).
From First Monday Trade Days, the Big Pines Blues Festival, Tyler's Celtic Festival to free movies in the park. You will find something you and you're family will enjoy this weekend and every summer weekend in East Texas, for that matter.

With four acts on Friday and 10 acts and family activities on Saturday, this festival will definitely be the highlight of your weekend.
The outdoor festival is in its 12th year of existence, 3rd in Longview. If you like the blues, this is a can't-miss event. Check out the entire lineup here.

Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center is celebrating National Fishing Day with free admission for all. There will be a free all-ages catfish tournament, free hot dogs, pizza, nachos and drinks and no license will be required for that day!
You can register for the tournament upon arrival at the Angler's Pavilion. Free! What more can you ask for besides good weather?

Growing up (and still to this day) I have loved watching movies in the park on warm, summer nights. It's free, it's community-oriented and who doesn't love laying in the park. Just bring your Deet for those pesky skeeters.
This month, Palestine presents 'A Royal Wedding' starring Fred Astaire and Jane Powell. Bring your blankets and chairs to get comfy for the viewing.

Starplex Pavilion in Dallas - 7 pm to ??Price: $33 and up
Florida Georgia Line's Smooth Tour hits Dallas this Saturday and they're bringing some pretty cool friends with them - Nelly (yeah, that Nelly!) and Chris Lane. Ticket prices seem pretty modest for the lineup and you can purchase them in advance at LiveNation.

Looking to get your kids (and maybe yourself) into shape this summer? Make a family event out of it and go to the Family Tennis Carnival host by the Tyler Tennis and Swim Club.
